There are many factors which are responsible for causing dark lips problem. Some common causes of dark lips include excessive use of lip color, smoking, and sun exposure.
HERE ARE SOME TIPS AND TREATMENTS:
- Avoid using lipstick because it is also one of the contributing factors for dark lips.
- Avoid sun exposure – Use a good quality sunscreen whenever you are out in the sun. Sun exposure is also responsible for making your lips dark.
- Avoid cigarettes, coffee, and tea.
- Make a mixture by mixing lime juice, honey, and glycerin. Apply it daily for several weeks.
- Try to keep your lips moisturize. Moisturizing your lips can help lighten them. Use Vaseline, shea butter, or lip balm before bed ,at night and as needed during the day.
- Make a paste by mixing equal parts of lemon juice, yogurt, and honey and rub it onto your lips. Leave it on for a ½ hour then scrub it off.
- Make a lip scrub by mixing sugar, coconut oil and a little bit of mashed banana.
- Mix equal amounts of olive oil + lemon juice and apply this to your lips before you go to bed every night.
- Honey is also loaded with many skin lightening properties and can be used effectively in the treatment of dark lips. Make a mixture by mixing 1 tea spoon of honey + 1 tea spoon of lime. Apply it on your lips for some time.
- Mix 1 tea spoon of almond powder with 1 tea spoon of milk to form a paste. Apply this paste on a regular basis.
- Daily application of plain butter also helps lighten the dark lips.
- Apply plain milk several times a day for some weeks.
- Aloe Vera is also effective in case of dark lips. You can apply Aloe Vera gel on daily basis; it helps to lighten up your dark lips.
