Pregnancy Mask Treatment


Pregnancy mask, also known as skin discoloration or melasma is one of the most common skin related problems with pregnant women. Hormonal shift and sun exposure are the two main causes of pregnancy mask. According to The American Academy of Dermatology, women with darker skin tone and dark hair are at greatest risk. There is nothing to worry about, as these types of marks normally disappear after you stop breastfeeding.

  • One of the best treatments for pregnancy mask is to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. Do not forget to wear a good quality sunscreen before going outside. Also, you can use azelaic acid or any topical vitamin C based product to get rid of pregnancy mask problem.
  • Another option to hide pregnancy mask is mask with a high-pigment concealer or foundation. But, do not forget to use a good quality moisturizer before putting on your concealer.
  • According to the skin care experts, deficiency of folic acid is also responsible for skin discoloration during pregnancy. Include folic acid rich foods in to your diet menu Or take folic acid supplements. Remember, it is always better to consult your physician before you start with the supplements.

  • Once you have given birth, you can also use various home remedies to lessen its appearance. Here are some remedies for pregnancy mask removal.

  • You can use sour milk to get rid of skin discoloration. Sour milk is a good source of lactic acid; this lactic acid can help to exfoliate your skin. Apply sour mild on the affected area, before going to sleep at night.

  • Another good remedy for facial discoloration is to use powdered orange peel. Make a thick paste by combining powdered orange peel, yogurt or milk. Apply it paste on the face and other affected areas.
